Welcome to Arcadia.

Small-town roots. A shared future.

A place to call home.

Arcadia is a small city in northeast Crawford County, Kansas, located near the Missouri state line about 15 miles northeast of Girard. Founded in 1862 and named for the ancient region of Arcadia in Greece, the town was platted in 1883 and grew as a station on the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway. It later expanded during the area’s coal mining boom, reaching a peak population of 1,175 in 1920. Today, Arcadia is a quiet rural community of roughly 250 residents. It maintains a post office, city hall, community center, local church, and the Arcadia Volunteer Fire Department. Shaped by its railroad and mining history and surrounded by farmland, Arcadia remains a close-knit small town.
